Five young willows for the Hochmeisterplatz playground

There are about 600,000 children and young people up to the age of 18 living in the capital, for whom there are about 1,850 public playgrounds. With warmer summers and rising temperatures in the city, tree planting is becoming more and more essential to shield the playing children from overheating and UV radiation.

Thanks to our donation of 13,302.88 euros to the Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf district office, five young willows have now been planted on the once treeless playground at Hochmeisterplatz, near Kurfürstendamm.

An appropriate specialist company carried out the planting and is responsible for three years' care of the trees. This provides the best conditions for a healthy development of the young plants.

The mature trees will one day provide valuable shade for the families and contribute to cooling the city. They also increase the overall quality of air and life, produce oxygen and remove dust and pollutant particles from the air through the pores of their leaves.
