Climate change is humankind's biggest threat
Climate change is affecting your health already now, e.g. because of increasingly frequent extreme weather events like heat waves, storms and floods. This leads to more crop failures and diseases.
Issues like malnutrition, malaria, diarrhoea, and risks due to high temperatures increase. Accordingly, between 2030 and 2050, deaths are expected to increase by about 250.000 per year. Thus, we urgently need to counteract climate change!
Healthy forests stored carbon for centuries through photosynthesis and stored it in soils and biomass. Illegal logging drastically reduces forests, releasing stored carbon into the atmosphere. Pep Canadell of the Global Carbon Project sums it up for the Amazon rainforest: "Deforestation in the tropics accounts for 20% of human carbon dioxide emissions." Peru, for example, is particularly worthy of protection, as it is home to 13 % of the world's tropical rainforest.
Gradually, forests are losing their incredible ability to regulate water quality and supply, remove air pollution, prevent erosion, enrich soils with nutrients and provide habitats for flora and fauna. Our air to breathe will suffer extremely in the next 10 years.
So let's protect this important biotope! This could reduce our annual emissions by 13%-20% by 2050. That is 10 times as much as Germany emits annually.
The loss of our forests threatens your health
Our project in Peru takes care of exactly that. We buy Peruvian rainforest areas so that they are safe from illegal logging.

How are we limiting climate change?
The Daniel Schlegel Umweltstiftung is effectively committed to the preservation and protection of our environment. With more than 12 holistic environmental projects, we are developing a climate-safe future step by step. Among others, we have:
- 7,745 trees planted for the establishment of a floodplain forest in Havelland
- 648 trees planted in Bosnia and Herzegovina
- 2,676 trees planted in Colombia
- ...and many other Projects funded, which are presented on our website
Reforestation and forest protection are the top priority of the Daniel Schlegel Umweltstiftung. Therefore, we want to protect the human right to a future worth living. Only a clean and living planet can ensure this.

Agroforst - Bäume auf Ackerflächen
Agroforstwirtschaft ist eine Tradition, die wir aktuell wiederentdecken. Sie kombiniert verschiedene Pflanzen und mitunter Tiere auf einer Fläche, da das hilfreiche Wechselwirkungen schafft und die Erträge steigert. Es gibt zahlreiche Arten der Agrarforstwirtschaft, sie schafft verschiedenste Produkte und bringt diverse Vorteile mit sich. Agroforste sind auf Dauer lukrativ und leisten einen großen Beitrag zum Umweltschutz. Wir unterstützen die Pflanzung von Agroforstsystemen. Mit einer Spende von 50 Euro hilfst Du bei der Pflanzung eines Obstbaums.
Baumschule auf den Kap Verden
Nachdem die Daniel Schlegel Umweltstiftung bereits 2020 mit Delta Cultura einen Permakultur Gemüsegarten angelegt hatte, wurde Anfang des Jahres 2022 eine Baumschule gegründet. In der Baumschule kümmern sich ein Spezialist und zwei Mitarbeitende um die Aufzucht, Pflege und Weitergabe inklusive Pflanzung der Bäume. Delta Cultura kümmert sich um Aufklärungsveranstaltungen in Verbindung mit Aufforstungsevents. Im Jahr 2022 wurden über 1.000 Bäume aus der Baumschule verpflanzt, was zu einer Verbesserung des Mikroklimas und Grundwasserspeichers führt. Eine Spende in Höhe von 7 Euro deckt die Aufzucht, Pflanzung und Pflege eines Baumes.
Schutz von Regenwald in Peru
Großkonzerne bedrohen den Regenwald in Peru. Zusammen mit der GLS Zukunftsstiftung Entwicklung und der lokalen Organisation ACELPA schützen wir Waldflächen vor Ort vor der sicheren Abholzung. Dafür werden Grundstücke gekauft, Landwirt:innen angesiedelt und in biodynamischem Landbau geschult. So erhalten sie eine Lebensgrundlage und können mit dem Wald in Einklang leben, ohne auf das Holz oder Weideflächen angewiesen zu sein. Mit 20 Euro können 500m² Wald vor der Abholzung geschützt und der Lebensraum von Menschen und seltenen Tierarten gerettet werden.
